About
David Southworth
I make digital things and write about them, with a long background in precision measurement and a habit of paying close attention.
My working life has centred on temperature metrology, over forty years of calibration, training, technical writing and international project work. That background shapes how I approach everything else: a stated figure is only meaningful once you understand the conditions behind it, and the same is true of most claims.
Precision and presence
Precision is not coldness. The care it takes to make a measurement you can defend is the same care that good writing or a calm interface asks for.

How I work
I build websites, web apps and tools, I write technical and reflective pieces, and I help people get to grips with AI and digital tools through training. I use AI to assist with structure and expression in my professional writing; the ideas remain my own, and for poetry I use only my own words. I work plainly, say what I can stand behind, and leave out what I cannot.
A privacy-first instinct runs through the work. Where something does not need to collect data, it does not. Both FeelingVault and Between the Waves are built on that principle.
